Sustainable Printing
Producing printed materials sustainably is not so much of a choice as a necessity for companies that which to project a positive and enlightened view of themeselves to their customers.
Greenhouse Graphics have been established since 1993 and have constantly reinvested in new technologies and sound sustainable printing processes to achieve an award winning environmental design and print service that has been recognised three times in the National Printweek Printing Awards.
We have a high degree opf knowledge of the real issues confronting printers with regards sustainability and the Directors of the company are all educated to degree level as a minimum.
As the name suggests we have been involved in sustainable print production since our inception in 1993 and, unlike others who have only recently started to think sustainably, we have a vast amount of knowledge about the issues and solutions.
We regulary give talks to business groups about sustainable issues for businesses and the benefits of taking a more sustainable approach
Environmental Initiatives
Our environmental initiatives include:
- The significant reduction of VOC emissions through the almost complete eradication of IPA (Industrial Alcohol) on our presses.
- The significant reduction of VOC emissions through the use of vegetable oil based inks and non VOC washes.
- The total elimination of hazardous waste emissions in our print process through investment in process less plate technology.
- The generation of up to 15% of our own energy requirements through the installation of PV Solar Panels in 2005.
- The reduction in energy demand through the installation of both PIR and segmented lighting systems and a 'Switch off' policy.
- The recycling of nearly all waste products from our processes.
- Achieving both ISO14001 and FSC Accreditation in 2007.
- The significant reduction in waste produced on jobs by the implementation of our own MIS which monitors production efficiencies, investment in CIP3 Ink Profiling and the investment in Horizon and Morgana equipment to significantly reduce set up waste when jobs are being finished.
- Liaison with existing customers to reduce/eliminate the use of cardboard boxes when delivering printed products.
